Aden's Justice League Superhero Party

"It's a bird, It's a place, It's Superman!"

My son has been crazy about Superhero's lately..... so much so that he wears a cape every where he goes. So it was a no brainer that for his 6th birthday party I would be throwing him a Superhero party; Justice league to be more specific. For my own twist we are going old school and Aden prefers it that way, thankfully because my husband and I always preferring to have the kids watch 80's cartoons instead of the weird stuff out now. I had to do a lot of thinking to incorporate what I wanted in this one because The Dark Knight, Man of Steel, etc.... changed the faces of the superhero faces I loved as a kid, But I came up with a party I loved and one that I know Aden will always remember. Enjoy!

DECORATIONS: For the decorations I wanted everything to focus around a city skyline and a phone booth so that when Aden's guests arrived they could go into the phone booth and pick out they costumes inside (which was filled with Superhero masks and different colored capes). My favorite part was watching them come out making their grand entrance. I also geared the rest of the decorations around the original Justice League's color scheme.

SNACKS, DESSERTS AND DRINKS: For desserts I wanted to have each item represent a Justice League character. The Lollipops were for Green Lantern. The Cupcakes were for Superman. The cake was for Batman (because he is Aden's favorite character). The Sugar Cookies were for Flash. The Yellow Licorice was for Wonder Woman. The gum balls were for Hawk Girl. And the drinks were for Martian Manhunter. I also tried to add an old comic book feel with how I decorated the dessert table.

PARTY FAVORS AND GAMES: For the gift "bags" I made each person a secret identity kit that included glasses, a mustache and a secret identity ID badge. For the games I made a bomb piñata and I got some black water balloons for the kids to chase and catch the bad guys. Chasing the bad guys was my son's favorite part!

Zoe's Mulan Party

The flower that blooms in adversity is the most rare and beautiful of all.

I am not going to lie, I LOVE that my daughter's new favorite princess is Mulan. Finally a princess that fights for her dreams and for what she believes in (training and working hard, instead of it looking easy or freely given); Plus she can defend herself which is AWESOME! For this party I tried to stay as authentic as I could with the movie and with the Chinese culture. Of course I had to add my own personal twist on everything to make it my own, which also had with it the occasional bump in the road. But I worked through all of them and am very happy with how everything turned out. I am so honored to still be able to throw parties like these for my kids, but most of all the greatest honor is having Aden and Zoe in my life. ENJOY!

DECORATIONS: For the decorations I created a Cherry Blossom tree using crepe paper and tissue paper; it was a long process but I love the end result.

DESSERT TABLE: For the desserts we had Fortune Cookies, cake, Chinese Candy, Candy Sushi, Mulan's Hair Comb Sugar Cookies.

FOOD AND DRINKS: For food we served Steamed Dumplings, Chinese Lettuce Wraps, and Egg Rolls.... YUM! and for drinks I bought a few really COOL Chinese sodas; Would of brought enough for everyone but they were expensive. What made them so cool is you had to hit the top pretty hard to drop a marble into the glass bottle to make the drink carbonated. Also food was served in take out boxes or on plates..... and yes of course we had chopsticks :)

PARTY FAVORS AND GAMES:  All of the party favors were given in Take Out Boxes that were all written on in Chinese Characters and English (Took forever but FUN). Inside was Chinese Bead Bracelets, Chinese Noise Maker, Mini Fan, Chinese Finger Traps, and Chinese Yo-Yo's. We also had a few foam Ninja Swords and Chinese straw hats. For games we had Origami and a Dragon Pinata.

"My, my, what beautiful blossoms we have this year. But look, this one's late! I bet when it blooms, it will be most beautiful of all"

I Couldn't agree more!

Estrada Going Away Party

Colorful Colorado is a place of pure beauty and place that keeps you in a constant awe of God's creation; A place that has always been home in my heart. So it's hard to imagine that anyone would want to leave this place. Which brings me to the latest party I threw for our family who decided to move back to their home in NC. We will miss them terribly but understand they must do what's best for them and their family.  So with a heavy heart I share with you a party that was filled with love, laughter and many tears. Enjoy!

Dessert Table: Our Dessert table had a mountain cake surrounded by a cupcake forest, Colorado themed sugar cookies and candies. Which we named Moose Poop (chocolate covered nuts) and Colorado Snowballs (yogurt covered malt balls).

Decorations: For decorations we kept it pretty simple considering I only had a week to prepare.  I made a Colorado flag and Colorado map banner.  Then I strung up the phrase Bon Voyage over the Huge Colorado Flag. Finally I went out back and picked up some pine tree branches and pine cones and placed them around the table.

Food and Drinks: Again we kept it simple just had a normal BBQ and soda for drinks. But if you know me by now I had to have some food that went with the theme so a Colorado party wouldn't be authentic without Rocky Mountain Oysters and Deer Sausage. The Rocky Mountain Oysters was the funniest part for me.... First telling the guest they were fried pickles so they would try them then with a smirk revealing to them that they were actually chewing on cow balls. LOL!

Well that's it! Thank you again for viewing my page and loving parties as much as I do. Stay tuned for my daughter's 4th birthday party :)
